Have you heard the exciting news? Hilbert College is proud to offer unlimited Say Yes to Education scholarships for qualified students! Since this is a rather new initiative, we sat down with our admissions team for a quick Q & A session on the Say Yes program. Continue reading for more information on who’s eligible, how to apply, and what the scholarship includes!
Q: Who is eligible for Say Yes to Education scholarships?
A: Students that attended any Say Yes to Education (SYTE) qualified high school are eligible to apply to receive consideration. Transfer students who currently receive SYTE benefits at a college or university can also be eligible to transfer those benefits to Hilbert.
Q: How do you sign up?
A: Students must attend a Say Yes to Education approved secondary school/high school for four years. The requirements will differ based upon the chapter from which they are applying. Buffalo | Syracuse | Cleveland
Students who meet the criteria (above) must then complete their SYTE application through their school counselor or Say Yes Counselor at their high school.
Q: What is the application process?
A: Once a student is approved by their local chapter to be eligible for Say Yes benefits, they must also apply and be accepted by Hilbert College. We operate under a rolling admissions deadline, which means students can apply up to the start of classes. However, interested students are strongly encouraged to apply as early as possible.
All SYTE applicants MUST also complete and file the FAFSA as early as possible, listing Hilbert’s school code: 002735. This application is free and can be found at fafsa.ed.gov. Students will not be considered for Say Yes benefits if they do not complete this step!
After filing the FAFSA, students with an adjusted gross income of less than or equal to $75,000 will be considered for the SYTE scholarship. Those who exceed the $75,000 cap may be eligible for a Say Yes Choice Grant, for as much as $5,000 per year. This grant is offered through Say Yes itself and NOT Hilbert College.
Q: What if I don’t have transportation to get to campus?
A: Recognizing that transportation is a concern for our Say Yes students, Hilbert has also agreed to provide an overall financial aid package that will cover the full, estimated cost of housing, meals, and textbooks, in addition to tuition and fees. To take advantage of this additional scholarship, students must complete all required steps as well as housing requirements as early as possible. Housing capacity is limited and is offered on a first-come-first-served basis.
Q: When can I start?
A: Students interested in taking advantage of the SYTE scholarship can begin their studies in the fall or spring semesters!
