Hawk Eyes, produced by the Department of Student Life, comes out every Friday. It is meant to keep students informed of important events and initiatives.
Welcome back to campus! We are looking forward to a wonderful semester full of exciting events, meaningful conversations and showing off our Hilbert Pride! The administration at Hilbert College heard loud and clear that updating and informing the students of important issues, programs and events is of the utmost important to our study body. In an effort to provide you with these important updates we have committed to writing weekly updates on this blog. If you have any questions or suggestions about this blog, please contact Denise Harris, Vice Provost for Student Engagement at dharris@Hilbert.edu
Make sure you log into Blackboard the first week of classes. Professors will post important information, write announcement and post assignments on this tool.
The 2016 Summer Orientation Leaders did an excellent job welcoming our new students to campus. If you see the following students around campus – please thank them for all of their hard work.
Meet your Resident Life Team
Hilbert College is excited to welcome our new Residence Life team! Jill Cole our Director is excited to be here and has spent the summer reinvigorating the residence halls. She has instituted a new programming model and has an open door policy. Stop by her office, located on the first floor of Trinity and say hello. You may recognize our other two residence life staff members, Jake Peters and Shenique Nibbs. Jake served as our interim Assistant Director of Residence Life last year, but will be here full time now! Shenique is excited to serve in her new role as the Area Coordinator in this office. Together, they are committed to fostering a safe, inclusive and fun living learning environment. Meet the Resident Assistants who have been hard at work this summer ensuring that this is the best semester yet!
New Changes to the Menus in the Dining Halls
The menus in the dining hall have changed! The best way to describe them are restaurant style menus, where menu items are featured as meals, not just as individual items. As always, everything is totally customizable as each student wishes. They still have all the same options they always did, and they still have their choice of sides, it is just presented as a complete meal.
Students that do not want to circle every condiment and topping do not have too, they can simply select the sandwich, wrap or burger, for example that they want. For students that prefer their meal exactly to their liking they can choose to add or delete any topping, side or condiment as they wish.
Also, students can purchase special reusable take out containers from the dining staff. These new containers are environmentally friendly. For more information, contact Jessica Lively, at jlively@Hilbert.edu.
Friendly reminder that if your financial aid package exceeded all expenses and your paperwork has all been submitted you are eligible to use the remaining balance to purchase your books. If you have any questions, please contact Jody Lang in the Student Finance Office at jlang@Hilbert.edyu
